Grassroots groups from four states along the proposed route of Spectra Energy’s Algonquin Incremental Market (AIM) pipeline expansion, which cuts through New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, have joined together to host a coordinated “Week of Respect and Resistance”, with actions from December 13 through December 19 in opposition to the project. The actions are planned in anticipation of the release of the final Environmental Impact Statement by the Federal Energy Regulatory Committee (FERC) due on or about December 19, 2014.
On December 13, as part of the Week of Respect and Resistance to the Spectra Pipeline, 350Mass activists and others distributed leaflets at the Legacy Place Mall in Dedham, one of the towns along the pipeline route. There was a great response from those they encountered! Stay tuned for more campaign events in Dedham and West Roxbury soon.
There will be a street theater performance outside of the State Street Corporation (the second largest investor in Spectra Energy) to connect the dots between extreme energy infrastructure and those that profit from it. It's time to call out State Street for their investments in climate chaos!
WHAT: Week of Respect and Resistance Street Theater
WHEN: Thursday, December 18, 4pm – 5p
WHERE: Meet at Chinatown Park (Essex and Surface Rd, Boston) before heading to the State St headquarters down the street
